Title of Lesson: Sequence
Duration: 30 - 35 minutes
ANALYZE LEARNERS
General Characteristics
·
Number of Students: 19
·
Level (grade or age): 2nd
year
·
Gender: 9 girls, 10 boys
·
Age Range: 6 - 8 years old
·
Exceptionalities: None
·
Cultural/Ethnic/or other types of
Diversity: 3 Caucasians, 15 Africans, 1 East Indian
Entry Competencies:
SKILLS: Pupils have already mastered the skill of
getting ready for school, since they do it five days a week.
KNOWLEDGE: Know the order in which things take place, as
they would not go to the bathroom with their school clothes on, trying to take
a bath at that time. Work in groups and
follow directions.
Learning Styles:
Twelve
(12) of the pupils are visual learners and the other seven (7) are
kinaesthetic/tactile so they prefer to use their hands to get actively involved
in the lesson.
STATE OBJECTIVES
Audience:
The intended
audience are students in a 2nd year class.
Behaviour:
Correctly arrange
pictures and events in the order that they would occur.
Condition:
Classroom
would be used to teach this lesson so when they are finished they can easily go
to their seats to do the group work. Tables and chairs would be moved to one
corner of the room to allow pupils more room to move around freely during role
play. Each group would consist of three (3) pupils and one group would have
four (4) because of the odd number of them in the class. Therefore, there would be six (6) groups.
Degree:
Pupils would be given the chance voluntarily to come and participate in
getting “Ken” ready for school. They
would then be given a worksheet to complete in groups.
Objective
Statement:
The
pupils of 2nd year will be able to arrange pictures and events in
the order that they would take place.

UTILIZE METHODS, MEDIA AND MATERIALS
We would review the meaning of the word sequence and teacher would ask them what they remember from the last class. The word sequence would be put on the blackboard in the form of a flashcard that would be left in their view for the entire lesson. The laptop and projector would be used to show a sequence video that can be played over in the event that the pupils missed something.
After
the video the role play would take place where a pupil (boy preferably) would
pretend to get ready for school using the towel, toothbrush, school uniform,
shoes and breakfast with the sandwich, plate and cup. The rest of the class would assist him
orally.
When
this is done, the worksheets would be used in groups to ensure the lesson was
effective. The snacks would further be used to congratulate and motivate them
to do good the next time.
Pupils
will be graded based on each child’s involvement in the group work. Each child must participate whether orally or
in groups.
REQUIRE LEARNER PARTICIPATION
Whole-Class: The teacher will require
students to share their responses on a sequencing, but will also be required to
verbally present the information they input onto the chart to the class. The
teacher will be available to help students or answer questions. Students will
be required to participate in all class discussions.
Partners: The teacher will expect the
students to verbally discuss with their partner, answers or opinions in
response to the discussion questions the teacher will present. Afterwards, the
students will be expected to share a summary of their thoughts with the class.
The students will also be expected to listen to their classmates’ answers.
EVALUATION
Evaluate student’s performance: Pupils would be given worksheets at the end to assess their understanding of the lesson and to verify if extra work is needed.
Evaluate
Media Component: The projector and laptop would be
set up 15 minutes before the lesson and video would be run to make sure that
all is intact. All other resources would
be placed on a table close to the teacher for easy reach when it is ready to be
used.
Evaluate teacher:
create a grading system: poor, good, very good,
outstanding.
